Nina is a Ukrainian teacher living in a separatist-occupied town in eastern Ukraine. Andrij is a student and orphaned by the war. Their paths cross when Nina sees Andrij being arrested by the police for a petty crime. Nina immediately realizes that she must help Andrij, because in this world of injustice and lies, he risks going to prison for a long time.
